JL Coquet and Jaune de Chrome, a historic Limoges porcelain manufacturer based in Saint-Léonard-de-Noblat, has just joined the Compagnie Européenne de Luxe et Traditions (CELT), a French family group owning companies of excellence.
Placed in judicial liquidation, the JL Coquet and Jaune de Chrome factory enthusiastically welcomed the decision of the Paris Commercial Court, issued on August 23, notifying its takeover by the Compagnie Européenne de Luxe et Traditions (CELT).
Founded in 2007, CELT is a French family group that owns and unites craft businesses to protect and develop their unique and globally recognized expertise. This group brings together several workshops and manufacturers of excellence (Odiot, l'Atelier Rouge Pullon, Margot, Cristal & Bronze and Serdaneli), all holders of the EPV (Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant) label.
The Paris Commercial Court has ruled in favor of CELT's proposal, as it guaranteed the retention of all employees while proposing new synergies to strengthen the development of JL Coquet and Jaune de Chrome. A second proposal had been submitted by the Bernardaud group, but this would have retained only 66 jobs, significantly reducing production capacity at the Manufacture's historic site.
This acquisition will allow JL Coquet and Jaune de Chrome to solidify their position in the tableware and home decor sector, thanks to a more comprehensive offering combining porcelain and silverware through the Odiot company. New activities will also be developed within the high-end bathroom market, notably by offering a brand-new range of washbasins and accessories. Finally, CELT aims to open the factory to new markets by innovating within three years in the technical ceramics sector (electronics, medical, aviation, etc.).
“ This acquisition by the CELT Group is excellent news for JL Coquet and Jaune de Chrome. Employees are highly motivated by the upcoming development prospects, which will allow us to build on the work undertaken by our teams over the past year to strengthen our market position, ” stated Sébastien Cich, Managing Director of JL Coquet and Jaune de Chrome. Drawing on his extensive experience in the tableware sector, he will also take over the management of Odiot, in order to maximize synergies between the two entities within the group.
In parallel, JL Coquet and Jaune de Chrome will be hosting a major "Open House" event during the Maison & Objet trade fair, welcoming clients and agents from September 6th to 9th at their Rue Royale boutique. This event will provide an opportunity to showcase their entire collection as well as their latest innovations.
