Founded in 1824, 25 kilometers from Limoges, J.L Coquet has always been a House renowned for the purity and delicacy of its porcelain but also for the excellence of its traditional know-how.

The translucent whiteness of the material, the brilliance of the golds, the contrast of the colors and the finesse of the engravings are still, at the dawn of the brand's two hundredth anniversary, the sign of distinction of its collections.

Labelled as a French Living Heritage Company and a PGI, this exceptional company has become the symbol of a French Art de Vivre and a "Made in France" know-how, whose elegance can be found on the most beautiful starred tables.

Obtaining a piece can require nearly twenty manipulations during which advanced techniques and know-how are intimately linked. Thanks to a unique engraving technique, the gold, platinum or other precious metal inlays highlight the decorations of our products while ensuring their irreversibility. This technique gives the colors and patterns a unique relief to sublimate each of our pieces.

At the same time, thanks to a unique handmade satin finishing technique, a mineral juice is applied to certain parts of the piece in order to protect the matte finish of the cookie, while the enamel is deposited on the unscathed parts. This combination of matte and shiny effects offers unique aesthetic contrasts while preserving our products abrasive and marking materials.

Hand painted decoration

Hand painting is done with a brush. The worker becomes an artist. The precision of the gesture, the skilful proportioning of the colors are the result of many years of learning and practice.

Chromolithographic decoration

Chromolithography is a process by which a sheet of paper is affixed by hand on white porcelain according to the principle of decalcomania. It is soaked in water so as to detach the motif from its paper support and applied to the piece. The leaf decoration is produced by different printing processes. The factory has its own silk-screen printing workshop to print its decorations.

The spraying of the decorations

The third technique for applying decors J.L Coquet is spraying. Using a spray gun with a carefully measured amount of paint, the craftsmen spray the pieces on a lathe. To ensure that the decorations are homogeneous with each other, each piece is weighed, which makes it possible to measure the quantity of decoration on each piece. The spraying allows to obtain plain, delicate or intense colors according to the quantity of sprayed paint.

The inlay

Inlay is a very delicate decoration. Using a chromolithography and sandblasting technique, our craftsmen create refined and elegant decorations on porcelain.

Sandblasting

For pieces with gold, the last operation is sandblasting. Indeed, when it is fired, gold has a matt appearance. Sandblasting means rubbing it with a cloth and sand, it then takes on its full shine.
